Musgraves’ fifth studio album, Star-Crossed, was released in September 2021. The album's first two singles, "Space Cowboy" and "Butterflies", won the Grammy Award for Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance respectively. Her fourth studio album Golden Hour (2018) was released to widespread critical acclaim and won all four of its nominated Grammy Award categories, including Album of the Year and Best Country Album. She returned to SNL for her 2nd musical guest appearance on Octofor the season premiere of Season 47 of Saturday Night Live, hosted by actor Owen Wilson, where she performed "Justified" and "Camera Roll". She appeared on Saturday Night Live and made her musical guest debut for the first time on the episode, the twentieth episode and the Mother's Day show of Season 43, hosted by actress and stand-up comedian Amy Schumer where she performed "High Horse" and "Slow Burn". She is the first musical guest ever to perform fully nude on Saturday Night Live. Musgraves also released a Christmas-themed album, A Very Kacey Christmas, in 2016. Musgraves self-released three solo albums and one as Texas Two Bits, before appearing on the fifth season of the USA Network's singing competition Nashville Star in 2007, where she placed seventh.
